The clear mass of the house covered in a second skin, creating intimacy and concentration in the interior, also defines the public space in front of the Art School and the library. An open staircase connecting all floors and all branches becomes the spine of the house. The spatially intensive classes stay on the ground floor, while the art studio takes advantage of the good light conditions of the top floor with its terrace.
The library is volumetrically connected to the existing buildings in the surroundings, the Town House together with the Villa Růže define the basic mass of the building. On the ground floor there is a hall with a capacity of 100 seats, the other two levels are used by the library, which offers up to 23,000 volumes for free selection. The modern library also includes a space for young people – a teens club and a separate club room, which develops the library’s programming options even more.
The bad condition of the Municipal House and its necessary reconstruction creates an opportunity to adapt the building for the new museum of Zbraslav. On the ground floor there are exhibition spaces, and on the first floor there is a hall for city council meetings and ceremonies, together with a contemporary art gallery. The free attic will be used for short-term exhibitions or informal cultural events.
