J. A. Alice Square, like Hynek Klicka Square, is currently defined only by its name, unfortunately, not by its actual meaning. The whole area is uncluttered, dangerous and makes it difficult for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists to move around. Moreover, this deprives the square not only of its charisma, identity and dignity, but also of its usability for local residents.
The proposal sets out to restore this identity and charisma to the square, to make it a dignified centre in terms of its historical but also city-building significance. To create a space that locals will be able and willing to visit and use in full across the seasons. A space for markets, culture, Christmas festivals, but also for casual weekday gatherings in the shade of trees or in a café.
Historically, the entire area of Březové Hory is interwoven with a network of mine shafts and adits, which were created during silver mining and contributed to the development of the entire town. In the design, these elements rise to the surface, where they are interwoven directly into the pavement in the form of smooth stone lines and surfaces.
