Veleslavín Station

Two different energy flows. Linear and chaotic. They meet at one point. The design negates this thesis. By its character, it shapes the chaotic movement of people. It negates the conflict. It creates a smooth transition between chaotic and linear, a typical characteristic of train movement. The simple form and true construction supports the basic attributes of a functioning railway station, i.e. clarity, sustainability and conflict-free. This minimal form, which is pushed to the limit, is the carrier of the characteristic architectural expression. It is essentially applicable to different places with different characters with the same degree of functioning within the context of the place.

The predominantly linear character of the station itself has been transferred to the newly designed surroundings. The continued direct character of the individual functional units completes the overall design. The individual lines (platform, green belt, linear set of buildings) interconnect and reinforce each other to form one compact, strong whole. This cluster of individual lines graduates at the meeting point – the square, the new local centre.
